A publishing and editorial building for approx. 250 employees is to be constructed on the approx. 1,360 m² site in Friedrichstraße in Berlin Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg by the end of September 2017. In addition to office workplaces, the building will house the new taz.café and the new taz.shop on a floor space of approx. 5,400 m².
The construction of the new publishing and editorial building will also be the start of the redesign of the “Creative Quarter Südliche Friedrichstadt”. A cultural, educational, and creative industries quarter in the historic center of the city will be built on 6 construction sites around the adjacent wholesale flower market hall, which will house the Jewish Museum Berlin Academy since 2011.
Completion is scheduled for the end of September 2017. The specified construction cost budget and the handover date of the property ready for occupancy are key project goals.
SMV carries out the entire project management services for the new building. In the competition phase the cost review of the participants’ designs was already carried out.
