Project description

The “Grand Central Berlin” is an office and commercial building at Berlin’s main railway station with eight full floors above ground, an attic storey, a total of around 22,600 m² of above-ground gross floor space and two underground levels with 80 parking spaces. The building plot is located in construction area MK 1 between Invalidenstrasse, Emma-Herwegh-Strasse and Clara-Jaschke-Strasse. OVG Real Estate intends to create office space of the most modern standard. The model for this is the ensemble “The Edge” in Amsterdam, which is considered the most sustainable office building in the world and was also developed by OVG Real Estate.

At the end of 2014/beginning of 2015, an architectural competition was held for the entire building site (MK 1 and MK 2). The winner of the competition, Bolwin Wulf Architekten Partnerschaft, was commissioned with the building design for the building on construction site MK 1 and with the facade design for the hotel building planned on construction site MK 2.

The start of construction with the execution of a demanding, water pressure retaining trough pit took place in June 2017 and the overall completion of the building is planned for the 2nd quarter of 2020.
