EDGE Grand Central Berlin

IT'S DONE.

Just under two and a half years after the foundation stone was laid, the EDGE Grand Central construction project is now complete.

The nine-story building in the immediate vicinity of Berlin's main train station and part of the future Europacity, is the first EDGE building in Germany. EDGE, a company of OVG Real Estate, has set the goal to realize the most innovative and smartest office building in Germany. Therefore, the EDGE Grand Central had already been pre-certified with platinum by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) for its ecologically sustainable construction and energy efficiency on the highest level of sustainability. In addition, the building received the "WELL Gold Core & Shell" pre-certification from the International Well Building Institute for its exceptional design to create healthier work environments with a special focus on user well-being and health. For example, a building app allows users to customize all environmental parameters, such as lighting, shading and temperature, according to their own needs.

The next-generation building offers approximately 22,800 square feet of office and community space. While Scout24 has secured 14,000 m² of space in the office building, a further 3,500 m² has been leased to US software developer Oracle. The remaining space on the ground and 1st floors will be operated by EDGE Workspaces as community space with catering facilities as well as flexible workstations.

EDGE Grand Central was purchased by real estate investment manager Nuveen Real Estate, which took over the building for the Cityhold Office Partnership (CHOP).

SMV was a partner of EDGE Technologies from the very first second and managed the construction project from the architectural competition to the finish line of the project, the moving in of the last tenant.
