ELBTOWER – Hamburg

The site is located in Hamburg's HafenCity in the Elbbrücken quarter between the bridges Neue Elb- and Freihafenbrücke; to the north, the canal Oberhafenkanal runs adjacent; to the south, the site will be bordered by the future Zweibrückenstrasse. The high-rise building, which will grow out of a triangle-shaped base, will be the tallest building in the Hanseatic city at a height of approximately 245 meters. As the western end of HafenCity, it will set the final chord of this area, which made its debut with the construction of the new Elbphilharmonie concert hall.

The highest one to finish off.

The uniqueness of the location is reflected in the sculptural design of the structure; structurally articulated by concave floors, each slightly offset from the other. The façade is divided into two layers; a bright outer shell of horizontal maintenance corridors and vertical slats, as well as a transparent façade set back behind it, which serves the thermal requirements. To provide the greatest possible flexibility of use, the structural framework of the building was designed accordingly; the floor ceilings rest primarily on interior columns. So far, three main uses are intended: public-oriented uses, hotel and co-working spaces in the base, and office space in the tower. Wherever possible, terraces are assigned.
